There's been a lot of talk about hair these days on blogs and twitter - so I thought I would share a few of my favorite tips from the legendary hairstylist Jimmy Paul.
If you're not familiar with his work - he does amazing stuff (think romantic 70's hair)
Here are a few of his tips:
Volume
To add volume to dry hair, lift small sections and allow them to drop through a mist of medium-hold hair spray. "then spray your entire head with dry dry shampoo and scrunch; the result is hair with lift and a lovely, seemingly no-product finish.”
For those who hate hair spray, apply mousse to a vent brush and then to damp hair—it won't squeeze the air out of the mousse. “Coat the brush with mousse and run it through one side of your hair, then refuel and do the other side,” Jimmy Paul -Allure
Texture
Use a Texture Foam like Pantene Texture Foam ($6.49) on damp hair to create texture. Blow-dry while scrunching to get volume. "Then curl two-inch sections, holding the iron vertically, and let the curls drop," says Paul. Finish by combing with your fingers. - Cosmo
Uneven Curls
If you're right-or left-handed, chances are, you can't twist the curling iron as well with your nondominant hand, so your curls don't come out even, explains Bumble and Bumble stylist Jimmy Paul. "To make it easier, point the tip of the iron down instead of up, and wrap pieces around vertically for more control." - Cosmo
And I had to include a few of his favorite styling products:

surf spray
"It gives an incredible beachy texture - it's like a holiday in a
bottle. And it smells great! I also used it if I want an edgy,
or as a working spray with a curling iron."
